Integration and Delivery

Integration Between Platforms

The Aggregion distribution process assumes that content is stored on third-party platforms. These platforms must, therefore, be integrated with Aggregion platform. There are two major types of integration available:

Product Integration - this type of integration syncronizes product metadata and descriptions between third party platforms and Aggregion platform. The integration interface takes product data from the copyright holder platform and syncronizes it with Aggregion platform. During the distribution process, Aggregion platform also integrates with the distribution platforms (such as online stores) and feeds the data to their product catalogs.

Account Integration - this integration provides Aggregion platform with administrative access to the copyright holder's account management system. It allows Aggregion platform to check if a user account already exists on copyright holder's platform, create new user accounts if necessary, and change accounts to reflect new products purchased by the customer.

Other Integrations - aside from the platforms directly involved distribution process, Aggregion platform may also be integrated with financial, accounting, analytical, CPM and other systems as necessary.

Product Activation

From the customer's viewpoint, below are the two most common means of product purchase and activation: online and offline. Other means are possible such as via a Smart TV.

Online Purchase

If the product is purchased online, then in most cases the following steps take place:

  1. The customer purchases product at online Point Of Sale. This could be a third-party online store, an Aggregion online resource such as a Digital Library, or any other means of acquisition where the customer has an opportunity to provide his or her email address. The financial transactions are handled by the Distributor.
  2. Once Distributor's system confirms to Aggregion that payment has been processed successfully, Aggregion interfaces with the copyright holder's platform to create an account for the customer and assign purchased products on conditions specified in the product license. If an account already exists, then new products are added.
  3. The customer receives an email with instructions from Aggregion. The email outlines next steps for the customer to access the content, which in most cases is a link with login details provided. The customer follows the link to the content.

Offline Purchase

If the digital product is purchased in an offline store, then the steps are slightly different:

  1. The product sold offline is likely either bundled with a physical product or sold as a gift card. The code with instructions may be printed on the card or printed on a paper receipt, generated automatically at the payment terminal. The card or the receipt will have the address of the landing page where the customer must go to activate the code. The landing page might belong to Aggregion, copyright holder or a third party. In either case, the activation process is handled by Aggregion.
  2. The customer enters the code at the activation portal and provides an email. Once authorized, the customer will be provided access to the content or sent an email with instructions on how to access the copyright holder's platform.
  3. The customer receives an email with instructions from Aggregion. The email outlines next steps for the customer to access the content, which in most cases is a link with login details provided. The customer follows the link to the content.

Content Delivery

From the viewpoint of copyright holders and distributors, the content is delivered to the customer via two most common options.

Content is hosted on copyright holder's platform(s)

In this case, Aggregion is managing the distribution and processing of product license and granting the customer access to the content on copyright holder's platform as specified by the conditions in the license. Aggregion manages the customer access, but the content itself remains with the copyright holder.

Content is hosted on Aggregion platform

In this case, the content, such as video and electronic books, is loaded into Aggregion's Azure Cloud hosting. Aggregion manages the whole delivery channel, from Azure Cloud and directly to the customer using industry standard video players and e-book readers. The channel is encrypted and the copyright holder's content remains protected since the content is only accessible through the Aggregion playback mechanisms and are subject to the licensing conditions.
